A PS5 remake of The Last of Us, dubbed The Last of Us Part 1, has been confirmed. Fans may now pre-order the game in advance of its September 2 release date.
For months, rumors of a remake have been circulating. ResetEra user Modiz posted a link to the PlayStation Direct Store earlier today, which appears to have gone live ahead of schedule.
“Experience the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters of Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us, winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards and now rebuilt for PlayStation 5,” the listing says, and goes on to explain how the already brilliant game has been further mastered.
“Experience a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but with modernized gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options,” the listing continues.
“Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.”
The Last of Us Part 1 will comprise the complete single-player plot of the game, as well as its prequel chapter, Left Behind, which will be officially released during Summer Game Fest 2022 after an earlier leak.
The game will also be available in two editions: standard and Firefly, with the standard edition costing $70/€80 on the shop. The Left Behind DLC will be included in both editions.
A Digital Deluxe edition will also be available for $80/€90. It comes with early access to in-game goodies including faster crafting and healing, a 9mm reload speed upgrade, explosive arrow gameplay modifier, speedrun mode, six weapon skins, and more.
