His mother, actress Mona Shourie Kapoor, was the late film producer Boney Kapoor’s oldest child, and Arjun Kapoor is their eldest son.
As a Bollywood actor, he made his debut with Ishaqzaade, released in 2012. Nikkhil Advani’s Kal Ho Naa Ho and Salaam-e-Ishq were his previous credits as an assistant director.
